Game vs Huntsville Tasso Lake Heating
The Parry Sound Atom Local League (LL1) traveled to Huntsville this past Saturday to play Huntsville Tasso Lake Heating.
This being the third meeting for the two teams this season with Parry Sound going 0-1-1.
Parry Sound seemed eager to get started and began to control the game right from the puck drop. Huntsville was able to get the first goal off a Shamrock turn over. With Huntsville leading 1-0 the Shamrocks continued playing their game and were rewarded with a goal of their own late in the period with 14 seconds remaining. Goal by Oliver Collins assisted by Chad Herbert.
The second period Parry Sound continued to press hard and kept the puck mostly in the offensive zone and scoring a lone goal to take a 2-1 lead. Goal by Riley MacLean, Assists going to Herbert and Julian Smith.
The third period the Shamrocks pursuit in getting an insurance goal came after many good quality chances. Cooper Mahon capitalized on a turn over he created and beat two defenders and wristed a shot over the Huntsville goalie for an unassisted goal. This goal seemed to deflate the Otters. The Shamrocks were able to get one last goal off a beautiful passing play off a awesome offensive zone cycle. Bryce Norton passed the puck to Derrian Smith who quickly passed the puck to Herbert who then roofed the puck into the Huntsville net.
Shamrock earned a win in what was one of their strongest games of the season.
Next game is this Saturday in Gravenhurst against South Muskoka HRC Insurance at 2pm.
