Penetang Winterama Tournament
Both Parry Sound Local League Atom teams traveled to Penetang to compete in the annual Winterama Tournament

The LL1 team faced off against Georgian Shores at 10am.  The Shamrocks started with enthusiasm for the first half of the first period controlling the play and getting a few chances but the boys seemed to stop playing the way we're all used to.  Georgian Shores scored a goal at the end of the first and another early in the second to take a two goal lead.  The Shamrocks seemed to forget what brings success, and that is team play.  They continued to play individually and ended up losing to a team they should have won easily 3-0.  The way the tournament was set up, this game turned out to seal the Shamrocks fate.  Player of the game went to Wyatt Lerbert

The second game the Shamrocks returned to their usual form beating the host Penetang team by a score of 4-3.  Better game against a much stronger team.  The Shamrocks showed improvement from the morning game but still did not have their best game.  Goals ans assists were, Chad Herbert (3 goals and 1 assist), Derian Smith(1 goal), Drew Bloor (1 assist), Wyatt Salt (1 assist), Mackinnley Mann (2 assists).  Player of the game went to Derian Smith.

Because of the first game score, the Shamrocks were slated to play in the D-Division finals because of points on Sunday morning.  The Georgian Shores team that beat the boys on Saturday morning ended up making the A finals and the Penetang team they beat ended up winning the B Final.  The Shamrocks, obviously a better team to be in the D final had no problem beating Ayr a 7-1 victory.  Goals were scored by Derian Smith (3 goals) Wyatt Salt (2 goals), Oliver Collins (1 goal), Chad Herbert (1 goal), Mackinnley Mann (1 assist), Carson Healey (1 assist).

A very cold weekend with in a hotel full of bursting pipes, swimming pool and free pizza was fun for all!!

Next game is on Feb 27 against Huntsville Tasso Lake.  In three games the two teams on paper are pretty even going 1-1-1 on the season.  Tasso Lake has an edge with 11 goals for compared to the Shamrocks 10 goals for.
