Novices start their playoffs
This past weekend the Optimist Club Novices began their OMHA playoffs with two games against a very tough opponent.

Having a record of 0-6 and being out scored 13-41 through-out the 2015-16 season the Hunstville Otters aren't the team the Shamrocks wanted to start their playoffs with.

The first game was played in Huntsville.  The Shamrocks seems ready to play, dressing room was quite before the game and every player knew the up hill task ahead and seemed ready.

The Otters got on the score sheet with two quick goals early by one of
the Otters strong players, Tait Collins.  Both unassisted goals.  The second period the Shamrocks broke down again and the Otters were able to roof a goal bringing the score to 3-0.  But the Shamrocks didn't give up.

The third period, the Shamrocks tried to mount a comeback.  Nicolas Gray was able to score an unassisted goal and they had a few other chances but the lone goal was all the Shamrocks could muster.  The game ended in a 3-1 win for the Otters, the Shamrocks being out shot 20-7 and the Otters taking a 2 point lead in the the 6 point series.

The second game was at the Bobby Orr Community Centre.  The Shamrocks looking for revenge and to even the best of five, 6 point series.  Once again the Otters were able to get on the score sheet first, but this time the Shamrocks Nicolas Gray was able to answer right after to tie the game minutes later.  Assists going to Avery Rochon and Evan Villeneuve.

The game proved to be a tight game with neither team getting many chances, ending the game in a hard fought tie.  There was some confusion as to whether or not overtime was to be played.  The confusion continued as it was decided that overtime was to move forward.  Huntsville took advantage of the confusion scoring the winner with 30 seconds into over time.  The Shamrock played a stronger defensive game keeping the strong Otter players off the score sheet, this time only being out shot 17-13.

The Shamrocks play the Otters at 6pm in Huntsville on Friday Febuary 5th looking to stay alive in the 6 point series with the Otters leading the series 4 points to 0.
