Novices steal a win and a tie vs the Storm
The Highland Storm traveled to Parry Sound on Sunday to play two regular season games back to back.

The Optimist Club Novices lost once and tied once in the first two games against the Storm earlier this year.

The Shamrocks started the game off with a high tempo shift putting pressure on the Storm right away.  At the 9:10 mark of the first period off a rush Evan Villeneuve scored the first goal, assists going to Nicholas Gray and Delana Baker.  The Shamrocks finished off the first period with a 1-0 lead.

The Second period the Storm started the period off strong.  With the Shamrocks on their heels the Storm was able to tie the game halfway through the period.

What ever Coach Mike said between the 2nd and the 3rd worked as the Shamrock opened the third period with a quick goal.  His first goal ever, Natham Heimes batted in a loose puck which seamed to elevate his team mates!  Shortly after the goal, the Shamrocks pressed again with Brady Ball scoring a nice unassisted back hand goal extending the lead to 3-1.  The Shamrocks settle in  and the Storm took advantage and shift by shift were able to gain momentum.  The Storm finally solved the goalie Bram Palmer at 8:57 to cut the lead to one. With the Shamrocks on their heels and in the defensive zone for the remainder of the game, Palmer held on for the win, 3-2 despite being out shot 21-11.  Shamrock goalie Bram Palmer again playing a very strong game!

The after a relatively quite lunch up stairs the Shamrocks rested up for their second game of the day

The second game started off with each team playing very carefully defensively. Very few chances in the first period.  A neutral zone turnover and a goal that goalie Bram Palmer got a piece of, trickled in at the 2:12 mark of the first period, giving the Storm a 1-0 lead.

The Shamrocks playing well defensively and limiting the quality of shots on Palmer were able to tie the game in the second of a goal by Elliot Mahon, his first of the season, assists going Mitchel Parrick and Avery Rochon.

The third period the Storm pressed but could not beat Palmer.  The Shamrocks had one chance for the win late in the third but were unable to capitalize, the game ended in a 1-1 tie.  Shamrocks again out shot 21-8.

Despite being out shot, 42-19 in two games, coach Mike was pleased with the hard work and team play for the two games.  The shots that the Storm were able to get were from the perimeter, many of the easy saves for Palmer.

The Shamrocks have a practice tonight (Monday), and Wednesday then they will travel to Ottawa for the Ottawa Senators Holiday Classic to play there first of three guaranteed games on Friday December 18 at 10:15am.

As a team the Shamrocks are going to the Ottawa Senators game against the San Jose Sharks on Friday evening.  Look for the players dressed in their Shamrock greens on TV!
