Close game against the Otters
The Optimist Club Novices traveled to Huntsville on Sunday January 3 to play their for game for 2016.

This being the fifth meeting of the season between the Shamrocks and Otters.  Shamrock going 0-4 and losing 9-1, 8-5, 5-1, 7-1 in the previous four games, out scored 8-29 the Shamrocks looked for revenge against the Otters

Parry Sound came out of the gate skating hard in the first period controlling most of the period and getting a few good scoring chances but were not able to bend the twine.

In the second period, the Shamrocks opened the scoring off a goal by Avery Rochon assisted by Lewis Hergaarden.  The Shamrocks continued to press on and control the game but broke down on the defensive side late in the period when the two top players from the Otters were able to finally get on the score sheet to tie the game and then they quickly took a 3-1 lead to end the period.

After the intermission regroup Coach Mike was able to get the Shamrocks spirits and energy back.  The boys got back to playing the way they started the game and at the half way mark Avery Rochon shot the puck and was rewarded with a goal that bounced of an Otter defender that hand cuffed the Otter goalie, assists by Nicolas Gray and Michael Murphy.  
With the momentum back in the Shamrocks favor Evan Villeneuve was able to score off a wrist shot to tie the game with 8 minutes to go.  Assists going to Nathan Heimes and Rochon.  
Both teams pressed hard to get the winner but the Otters Tait Collins proved again to be very difficult to shut down.  Collins got a bit of room in the neutral zone and was able to score the winner with 3:44 remaining in the third period.

The Shamrocks played a very good defensive game shutting down the Otters top two holding them to 2 goals each.  Shots were 21-18 in favor of the Otters.

Next game is this Thursday against the Muskoka Rock in MacTier, this will be their 6th game played against the Rock going 1-2-2 for the season.
