Harry's No Frills Peewee, MPSLL Champions
The Harry's No Frills Peewee's
travelled to Huntsville this past weekend to plan in the A division peewee play
downs.
This peewee team has worked very hard all season and was a great team to coach. They ended up 3rd in the MPS standings which qualified them for a birth into the A pool championship play downs.
They played a solid first game beating the other Parry Sound Local League peewee team in a close fought game 5-4. The next game they fell to a Huntsville team with a great goalie. We lost 5-2 and that seemed to be a turning point for the team. The final game of Saturday was played against another Huntsville team and the team played a very smart game against a team they played very well. This game ended in a tie 2-2.
Going 1-1-1 into Sunday, the team got some rest and prepared for the hope of playing two games. The first game they were matched up against the same Huntsville team they just tied. We won this game 5-2 and played the best game of the weekend! We controlled most of the play, not allowing many shots against.
The Championship game was to be played against the other Parry Sound who just came off a big, come from behind win in overtime to get to the Championship game.
The Championship game started with a 2-0 lead by Harry's No Frills, only to have Gibson Home tie it back up. It was then a one goal battle ending in a 5-4 win for Harry's No Frills scoring with less than two minutes remaining.
