What is Local League?
Local League Hockey is House League Recreational Hockey for small centres.  Local League teams offer a fun and fair place for players to experience and enjoy the game and develop their skills.

Are there tryouts for Local League?
There are no tryouts for Local League; players are accepted upon registration provided they meet the age requirements for the division until the team is full. Once a Team is full a second team is started.  
All Players are welcome.

How many games will we play?
Local League Season consists of a 16-20 game regular season. 8-10 Home games and 8-10 Away games.

Where and who do we play?
Local League teams have the unique opportunity to travel to the surrounding centres within their division in the Muskoka Parry Sound Local League to play & participate in a representative style hockey experience. They will proudly represent Our Town, Our Team, by Playing.  The centres currently in Muskoka Parry Sound Local League are, Almaguin, Huntsville, South Muskoka, Parry Sound and Haliburton.

What is the schedule? When do we receive it?
Game schedules are created at a scheduling meeting for Coaches and Managers in September (around the 19-21) and released once finalized.  The season runs from the last week in September to March and teams will have the opportunity to participate in tournaments (up to 3 depending upon each team’s direction and interest) and exhibition games throughout their season. Practices will be once per week.

Is there body checking in Local League?

What kind of ice time do players get?
Under the guidance of the Muskoka Parry Sound Local League, Parry Sound Minor Hockey advocates a fair ice time policy for all players.
