This Friday ATR Fireplace took on Huntsville Team Lake Life Remax for the second time in the regular season. The first game was a tight 2-1 loss for Parry Sound. We knew this game would be a close one.

The first period saw Parry Sound get on the board first, as Beau Hamel notched the first of the game with an assist from Lennox Baker. Just before time expired in the first period Huntsville was able to tie it up with 14 seconds left.
The second brought more hard fore checking and excellent defense. The team was rewarded with 2 unanswered goals. The first was great backhand by Aubrey Begin, assisted by Brynn St. Amant. This was Aubrey’s first goal this year and she was pumped. The second goal was a beautiful rush from Lennox and another backhand deke on a feed from Blake Tabobondung Williams. Oliver Adams stopped all second period shots, giving the team a 3-1 lead heading to the third.
The final period had Huntsville desperate to start the comeback and were able to get one 7 minutes in. ATR kept to their game plan of pressure and solid defense, even passing more now. Another end to end rush from Lennox ended up with the puck hitting the twine and Parry Sound restoring the 2 goal lead. Olly was standing strong in net and when he needed help his defense was there. Huntsville running out of time were throwing everything at the net getting multiple chances. On one such occasion Olly stopped the first shot and the rebound bounced over giving Huntsville a wide open net until Jack Simon came flying through the air knocking the puck into the corner stopping a sure goal. An amazing display of skill, heart and determination. The team held that lead until the buzzer went and it was time to celebrate.
The team really showed up tonight, bringing all kinds of effort. Still without their Captain and Assistant Captain due to injuries, the team is finding a way to get it done. They have a busy weekend with 2 more games. Player of the game went to Logan Leduc, the solid d-man with a cannon of a shot. He was everywhere he needed to be and stopped everyone coming down on him. Tomorrow the team travels to Sundridge to play the Almaguin Ice Devils #1 team.
