The Shamrock U18C REP Parry Sound Auto Parts Team traveled to Ayr/Woodstock this past weekend.
Losing their first game, with their backs to the wall for the remaining three must win games, they battled hard finding themselves in the Silver Stick Championship Final.
Sunday's final proved to be a challenge. After playing a nearly mistake free two periods,
controlling most of the play, against a team they had already beaten in the tournament and missing on
several great chances to take the lead, an unfortunate broken play had Mid-Huron score early in the third period.
They rallied each other and were able to tie the game shortly after creating some much needed momentum and adrenalin.
Unfortunately, Mid-Huron got another break late on a scramble in front of our net, with a goal that barely crossed the line and to some, questions as to how it crossed the line.
The boys, now frustrated, again, rallied themselves and attempted a comeback but there was not much left in the tank. Mid-Huron scored an empty net goal, crushing the Shamrocks hopes of victory.
Regardless of the outcome, these boys put their emotions in check and all worked together toward a common goal and simply came up short in a game that just wasn't in the cards for them.
These boys deserve a round of applause!
