LOCAL LEAGUE: 2017-2018 SEASON
The following motion was approved by the Board at the July 27th, 2017 Board Meeting:
2017-38-MOTION - Moved by Dan Hildebrandt, seconded by Chris Mahon that Board accepts the recommendations from the PSHC Local League Development Support Sub-Committee as follows:
1 ) That the Hockey club make an effort to identify all non-traveling players and then when creating a method to divide teams would then also spread them evenly across all the teams in each division, with an equal number of non-traveling players, on each team in each division, where the players play.
2 ) That the Hockey Club make a direct effort to reach out to player family’s who did not play Local League in the past year. To advise them of the plan to expand the Local League participation and the steps the Hockey Club has and will take as part of planning to aid and encourage participation.
3 ) The Committee recommended players identified as non-traveling could attend both in-town and out- of-town games at their own discretion. It was understood and discussed that even the non-traveling players would get what would be typically considered a full season of Ice time with attending only all local ( in town ) games and practices, which would add up considerably over the season.
4) The Hockey Club would keep the Opening Season Tournament to continue to be used as a Local Club and Team Exhibition Tournament.
While also continuing to keep the Bob Beaumont Tournament to be kept and re- branded as an PSHC OMHA sanctioned Local League Tournament for the PSHC Novice/Atom and Peewee Division Teams, also then open to other Teams from other organizations.
This would leave the newly developed Shamrock Challenge Local League Tournament for the older age groups, Midget/Juvenile and Bantam Division.
Other MPS organizations would be encouraged to also host Local League Tournaments as partners in MPS Local League.
5) Another key Committee recommendation was to include additional local games between local teams as Regulation games where able or Exhibition games where needed. The Committee felt this would also help increase amount of Hockey and especially help and create support for the non-traveling kids.
6) Committee members felt the addition of a Development Coordinator position by the Hockey Club presented a great opportunity to host more Hockey Clinics, which would allow non-traveling players to also get additional Ice time.
7) Additionally the committee felt the growing and continued support of club branding with the appropriate Club Jersey’s and Socks would help non-traveling as well as traveling players to increase their interest in participating.
8) The Hockey Club should begin posting information on the Hockey Club Web Site as soon as possible to help get information out the public about the Hockey Club’s Plan.
9) The planned intention of the Hockey Club / Executive to remove the $ 75.00 Local League Fee was well supported by the Committee, the recommendation in line with that action, was to immediately remove the reference off the PSHC / OMHA Player Registration Web Site.
It was understood this may also aid family’s, who the cost may have been a limiting factor in the past in not playing Local League, so going forward it was thought it may encourage even more to participate, even more readily.

$450.00 until July 31st
$550.00 Aug 1st to Sept 30th
$600.00 Sept 16th to October 31st
$350 Mites and Tykes
***PAYMENTS MUST BE MADE BY THE SPECIFIED DATE ABOVE IN ORDER TO RECEIVE THE EARLY PAYMENT AMOUNT.
Any registrations NOT paid by the specified dates will automatically be increased to the higher rates until the payment is made.***
Family Rate
$50.00 discount for the second child
$100.00 discount for the third child and subsequent children
**** CHILDREN MUST BE REGISTERED TOGETHER TO RECEIVE THE DISCOUNT. Adjustments will NOT be granted on for separate registration times. *****
