Prep Skates, Spring Tryouts and More (Edited)
The Parry Sound Hockey Club is pleased to be doing Spring Tryouts this year!  Since this is new to everyone, we thought it might be helpful to explain some of the dates/timelines and hopefully answer some questions that anyone might have.

As you may be seeing, most "Prep Skates", and all tryouts and practices are now posted to the PSHC web site, and you may be wondering what it all means, and perhaps why there is such a big gap between the Prep Skates and tryouts, etc.
Per the OHF, we are required to provide a minimum of 4 skills sessions (Open Skates/Prep Skates) and they must take place between March 2 and April 17 (U11 and U13)/ April 19 (U15 and U18).  Our club has endeavoured to provide these skates weekly, to keep players that might otherwise be done for the season on the ice over a few weeks and as close to tryouts as we can get.  The first Prep skates will be scheduled during the week of March 23rd, once the Rep playoff schedule becomes a little more clear, to try and avoid practices being on the same night as a Prep Skate but the other 3 are on the calendar now.  Prep Skate attendance is not mandatory, it is simply extra ice to keep players moving! Players would attend the Prep Skate with the age group they are trying out for in May.
U15 Players should also keep an eye out for a checking clinic in April, open to all U15 players that are considering trying out for Rep.  Date to be confirmed...
Registration opens April 1st, so watch for that!
B Tryouts are not permitted to start until AAA, AA and A tryouts are complete.  This is May 9 for U11 and U13 and May 11 for U15 and U18.  We have 7 days to do those tryouts. We are then permitted to hold practices for the remainder of June, so have opted to have 1 practice/week until June 22, excluding Victoria Day (May18).  Before you ask (lol), the ice is not available in Humphrey the week of June 29, as this is when their summer schedule starts.
Regular programming (Development Phase) is not permitted to begin until September 8. This phase is when practices can really get started and exhibition games or a tournament can take place.
In addition to all of this, we are still looking for coaching applications, so get yours in!
Lastly, there are several key executive positions that will need to be filled this coming season.  Keep an eye in the coming days for details and nomination forms.
