Hockey Season - Status Update
Submitted By Dan on Saturday, January 30, 2021
Due to the global impact of Covid-19, as it been heavily reported on and in the News, beginning on Dec 26, we continue to be in a Province wide lock down under the Emergency Order, put in to place by the Ontario provincial government, under the direct recommendation from the Provincial Medical Officer of Health and other senior advisors.

For the time being, Hockey operations at the Parry Sound Hockey Club have been paused with our official current status being, we have and continue to be in a “Hold Position”, along with others across the province.  We will proceed with the next steps as soon as we are able.

As such and in regards for the safety of membership and our community, we have continued to comply with all government requirements under the Emergency Order as well as any others, including those additionally enacted under the authority of our own District Health Unit. Current restriction and requirements include those impacting our own organization as well as others, such as the arena facilities, we practice and play at.

The next important and very key date for our purpose will be Feb 19/2021, which under the required Reopening Ontario Act (ROA), we could see things begin to re-open once again, should it be as safe as possible to do so. And should there be no further extensions to the lock down and/or other complications that could impact our ability to play, it is our intent that we will look at the best options and look for the best path forward, beyond that.

We will continue to monitor all information from every possible source including the Province of Ontario, the North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit and the OMHA, among others.

Please continue to monitor our web site for changes and/or any further status updates, as we will look to communicate back out to our membership, as soon as we are able. Which we again hope to do so, in the coming weeks.

We appreciate your continued patience and consideration. We will look as previously noted, to update everyone on our next steps, as soon as we are able.

On behalf of the Parry Sound Hockey Club Executive
