Safe Return to Play Hockey Update for 2020
Submitted By psmh on Monday, September 7, 2020
On behalf of the Parry Sound Hockey Club, we wanted to provide you all with a few updates as we start the 2020 Hockey Season.

To start off, at the recent Annual General Meeting on Aug 25th / 2020 the organization elected a new Executive. We would like to thank those on the past season’s Executive for their substantial contribution to the organization. We also would like to thank those in Staff positions within the Hockey Club, which include the Hockey Club Registrar, Referee in Chief, Chief Timekeeper and Tyke Coordinator - All who have put in a huge amount of time into the association and each have provided great expertise and commitment to the past season and we thank them for their contributions.

Leaving us on the Executive are Rick Quinn (President), James Cox (Vice President), Kelly Hergaarden (Treasurer), Danielle Villeneuve (Secretary), Dave Garagan (OMHA Contact), Tyler Strachan (Rep Director), Jennifer Harris (Ice Time Director) andRyanTabobondung (Past President). Each has provided great expertise and commitment to the association and we thank them for their contributions.

As we draw closer to the return of hockey, I wanted to give you a quick update on the process going forward. In talking to many parents in the association, we know you have many questions and please rest assured, the Executive is working to finalize plans for this upcoming season, which we will be releasing detail about shortly.

Our first meeting of the year for our new Executive was this past Wednesday night and we are already hard at work looking at the best way to maximize the association's return to hockey, in the safest way possible for the best season possible, for all of our membership.

Among many other key priorities we are looking at what our teams and game formats are going to look like; establishing plans for needed ice time for Games, Practices and Development; identifying requirments and working with the arena’s to obtain needed approvals; preparing a “Safe Return to Hockey Plan” for the hockey club and for the required submission to the OMHA; as well as firming up Registration Costs for the current season for our club. Other key work and developments underway include; working on a Safety Plan and related information, we are also looking to have a Health & Safety Communications Officer in place for the start of the 2020 season.

We will have more information very shortly along with an intent to confirm a start date within the next 2 weeks. For now, please be prepared to have your child on the ice in early October for another great season of hockey.

We look forward to seeing everyone on the ice soon!
