Body Contact Confidence
Hockey is a contact sport. All levels of the game involve checking skills. These skills include skating, positioning and angling, and checking. Checking is about separating the other team from the puck. Body Contact is not a body check, it is being able to position oneself in such a way to check the puck from another player. Body Checking is defined by actually stopping the forward progress of the puck carrier.

Body Contact Confidence lends itself well to the development of all players in the game and is a good lead into Body Checking.

The PSHC is offering a Body Contact Confidence clinic to assist players and coaches from noivce to bantam to further develop their checking skills. In the Confidence course, players will learn how do defend themselves from hits from behind (accidental or otherwise) and confidence to battle for pucks along the boards. Techniques will focus on balance, shifting weight, body position and initiating a check. Once these techniques have been taught, a body checking element for players going into the Bantam (body checking) level will focus on pining a player on the boards.
