Close game against the Bears
The Optimist Club Novices travelled to Gravenhurst on Saturday to pla their second game against the South Muskoka Bears.

These two teams are very well matched and traded many chances in the first period.  The Shamrocks playing a different type of game then what we've seen in the first few games of the season.  Thier was more effort, lots of passes and team play, something the Shamrocks have struggled with to date.
There was also a big effort in limiting the time and space for the Bears.  The Shamrocks were rewarded for their efforts at the 8:30 mark of the second period with a highlight real, bar down top shelve goal from Avery Rochon that stunned the Bears and the fans.   Assists going to Mitchel Parrick and Nicholas Gray.
The Shamrocks had a couple more changes and were rewarded again with an unassisted goal from Lewis Hergaarden, scoring on his own rebound.
With a 2-0 lead well into the third period, the Shamrocks were poised to hold on to the lead however the Bears had a different view.  They were able to apply pressure and with the Shamrocks on their heals were able to sneak one past Bram Palmer at the 1:41 mark late in the third.
A broken play and again applyng pressure the Bears quickly scored on a lucky bounce at the 1:00 mark to tie the game.  Stunned the Shamrocks pushed back just enough to keep the game at a tie.
The Bears out shot the Shamrocks 16-11 in a game that seemed like a sure victory for the Shamrocks.

Next game is Sunday at the Bobby Orr Community Centre against the Huntsville Otters at 1pm.
