MPS B Division Champs!
This past weekend, the Ritchie Insurance Bantams played host to the Muskoka-Parry Sound Championships.  In this tournament-format Championship, the Bantams faced off against the Huntsville Otters, South Muskoka Bears and the Highland Storm.  After round robin play, the top two teams played for the Division A Championship, while teams 3 and 4 played for the Division B Championship.

The Ritchie Bantams played well but were unable to pull off a win in the round robin and found themselves playing the Bears for the Division B Trophy.  This was a great match up, and a very exciting game!  Parry Sound scored late in the second period, with a goal by Lyle Archer, from Jayden Blower and Connor Lewis.  The third period had fans on the edge of their seats, especially with the Ritchie Bantams taking a penalty at the very end of the game and the Bears pulling their goalie to put on the extra attacker, to make it a 6 on 4 last minute of play!  Thanks to the solid goaltending of Ethan Rodger and the hard work and determination of the players, the Ritchie Bantams held on to the 1-0 win, to capture the B Division Championship!  Congratulations to the Huntsville Otters for taking home the A Division Championship!
The Ritchie Insurance Bantams regular season has now drawn to a close.  Highlighting the season were the final few games of the schedule, when the team pulled off a 3-3 tie against Elmvale, a 3-2 win over Oro and 4-1 win against Wasaga Beach.  The entire team has contributed to the scoreboard this season, with every player on the team getting at least one goal!
Congratulations to Lyle Archer, Joel Bishop, Jayden Blower, Connor Davidson, Connor Lewis and Ethan Rodger for being selected to play in the Muskoka-Parry Sound All Star Game in December.  Parry Sound was host to the event this year, and it was a great day of hockey. In the Bantam division, Parry Sound, together with the Huntsville Otter’s A and AE teams represented “Team Orr”, while Highland Storm and the South Muskoka A and AE teams represented “Team Beaumont”.  Team Orr came away with the 5-2 win, and Parry Sound was represented very well, with our players helping to contribute to the scoring and strong goaltending.  The team is looking forward to facing Schomberg in their first round of OMHA Playdowns, as well as attending an upcoming International Tournament in Montreal.
