West Ferris Early Bird Tournament
Congratulations to the Ritchie Bantams on a great weekend of hockey and fun!
The team played Renfrew in Game 1 and came out a little bit flat, losing 5 to 1. The lone goal was scored by Carson Jacklin, assisted by Joel Bishop. Player of the game was Connor Lewis. After a fun team dinner and Halloween Party Friday night, the boys had a great day of hockey on Saturday, pulling off two big wins! The first game was against Petawawa, who they defeated 4-0. After a scoreless first period, Parry Sound got on the board in the second with a goal by Connor Davidson, from Lyle Archer. Goals 2 and 3 were by Caine Buttineau, assisted by Michael Evans and Jayden Blower and Joel Bishop. Joel added the fourth goal in the third period, assisted by Spencer McKinnon. Congratulations to Ben Fox for receiving the goalie shut-out award, and to Caine Buttineau for being player of the game! The Bantams faced Kirkland Lake for their third game of the tournament, and again came away with a great 4-1 win! Opening the scoring early in the first was Joel Bishop, assisted by Lyle Archer. Goal two came on a Power Play, from Brock Riva, assisted again by Lyle Archer. Michael Evans got the third goal of the game, assisted by Joel Bishop, and closing out the scoring was another Power Play goal, this one from Lyle Archer, assisted by Brock Riva. Player of this game was Lyle Archer!
Unfortunately, with the way this tournament was set up, the two wins weren't enough to move on to a semi-final game, which was a big disappointment for a team that did so well.
After a bit of a rough start to the season, it is really great to see the team improving and working together!
