Bantam Team Newspaper Article
If anyone is interested, I finally got around to submitting an article to the paper, about our team to date.  It was in last Friday's paper, and I have also attached it for those who don't read the paper

The Ritchie Insurance Bantam’s season opener was against South Muskoka.  South Muskoka scored first and took a 1-0 lead to the second.  Parry Sound responded in the second with a tying goal by Anthony Gognavec, from Josh Quinn and Adam Badger.  South Muskoka went ahead 3 minutes later, and Parry Sound was unable to find the back of the net again, resulting in a 2-1 loss.  The second game of the season was against the big, tough Highland Storm team.  Parry Sound never gave up, narrowing down a 6-2 Storm lead to 6-5.  Highland Storm managed another couple of quick goals, going on to win it 8-5.  Goal scorers were Badger, Ethan Priaulx, Gognavec (2) and Quinn.  Assists came from Quinn (2), Gognavec (2), Badger (2), Connor Lewis, Joel Bishop and Ryan Bell.   Finally finding the winning column in game 3, Parry Sound scored big to defeat Almaguin 9-4.  Goal scorers in this game were Jeremy Hobourn, Quinn (2), Gognavec, Badger (2), Bell, Lyle Archer and Connor Davidson.  Assisting in this game were Davidson, Jayden Blower, Priaulx (3), Bell (2), Gognavec (4), Quinn, Badger, Bishop and Hobourn.  The Ritchie Bantams weren't back on the ice for two weeks, when they travelled to Hunstville to face the Otters.  Parry Sound scored first, on an unassisted goal by Quinn.  Huntsville answered back 2 minutes later to tie the game 1-1.  Huntsville took a 3-1 lead in the second period, but Parry Sound came within 1 with another goal by Quinn, assisted by Archer.  Parry Sound then tied the game in the third with a goal from Bell, assisted by Quinn.  Unfortunately, Huntsville scored with less than 2 minutes left in the game to win 4-3.  The Ritchie Bantams’ next opponent was Oro.  Oro was no match for Parry Sound, who took a big 16-2 win!  Hat tricks for Quinn, Gognavec and Badger, first goals of the year for Michael Evans, Bishop, Colton Marshall and Blower were a few game highlights, Additional goals from Bell (2) and Priaulx added to the excitement!  The following weekend the Bantams had a home & home series against the undefeated Penetang Flames.  Parry Sound took a 3-0 lead in the first, with goals from Gognavec (2) and Quinn, with assists from Badger (3), Gognavec and Quinn.  Penetang came back with a goal in the second before Parry Sound took a 4-1 lead with another goal by Quinn, assisted by Gognavec and Badger.  Penetang did not give up, scoring once more in the second and twice in the third, to go home with a 4-4 tie.  The next day, Parry Sound travelled to Penetang.  This time, it was Penetang who scored first, late in the first period.  Parry Sound had a great second period, scoring 4 unanswered goals.  Blower opened the scoring, tipping in a wicked shot by Bell from the point, assisted by Hobourn.  Quinn scored the next three goals – one unassisted, the second assisted by Gognavec and Badger, the third assisted by Badger.  Going into the third with a 4-1 lead, Parry Sound was feeling a little too comfortable and Penetang was again able to come back to within 1 goal.  Penalty trouble at the end of the game had the fans at the edge of their seats, but Parry Sound managed to hang on to the 4-3 win. This past weekend, the Ritchie Insurance Bantams were at home to Elmvale on Friday night, in their first meeting of the season.  Missing two of their key players, Parry Sound was in tough against a team who has only lost one game this year.  Parry Sound had one of their best games of the season and came away with a 2-0 win.  Scorers were Hobourn, from Badger and Davidson, and Badger, unassisted.  Sunday, Parry Sound travelled to Burks Falls, to face Almaguin for their second meeting this year. Parry Sound dominated this game and won 8-2.  The score stayed 0-0 until there were only just over 2 minutes left in the first period but Parry Sound was able to grab 3 quick goals from Badger, Evans and Archer, to go to the second up 3-0.  Adding goals in the second were Blower and Badger, with 3 more in the third, by Archer, Badger and Evans.  Assists for this game came from Quinn (3), Hobourn (2), Cole Willis, Marshall (2), Blower (2), Archer, Bishop, Badger and Bell.  Solid in net for the Shamrocks this season are Jesse Tranter and Ethan Rodger!
